This map earns the GMD Seal of Approval!

This map was originally just a revision of good old Gloom1b, but turned into a map of its own. Lifer spent many a months on this map, and the work shows. This map is just so well done, its almost impossible to find anything wrong with this map. This map is so far changed from the original, the only part reminding you that this is even gloom1 is the spider base.

The textures in this map are excellent. One of my favorites is Gumby's RXN soda machine in the mess hall. This map has plenty of eye candy. Theres even a functioning bathroom, in a manner of speaking. My favorite is the engine core. Its just so cool looking! The map's lighting is a bit dark though, but it all balances out with the long corridors. Any areas not big and bright are dark and long. The map, however, seems a bit large for a low amount of players. And there are a few problems with the doors of the human base, which works double-sided since it keeps humans from rushing 2 seconds into the game. Other than this one flaw in the map, which isn't truely Lifer's fault, this map is awesome, hands down.

Gameplay changes a bit from the changes. For one, humans cannot get to the spider base in less than 10 seconds. Also, the spider base has been changed back so that spiders can get on the tanks near their original spawns. Most encounters in the map occur either just outside the human base on the Derelict's bridge, or in the crew sleeping quarters or the mess hall. Even if a lot of people can get in on this map, its very rare to find someone else in the hall, so frags don't come as often unless you directly assault a base. But another fun thing is how Lifer included several things that only show up using Bandwidth_mode 2, which are some dead bodies and some insane grunts wandering around on the bridge. All these little touches make Derelict SE a great map. Lets hope to see some more good things from Lifer in the future.

Textures
Cube Cube Cube Cube

Comment: The textures in this map are just excellent. Many nice custom textures (especially coke machine), an example being the boom box in the crew sleeping quarters. This map gets 4 cubes for textures.

Layout
Cube Cube Cube Cube

Comment: This map has excellent layout, with exceptions for the human base. There are multiple ways to almost everywhere except for the human base, which does cause some congestion problems later in the game, and sometimes the doors get stuck in the human base. Other than that, excellent job lifer, 4 cubes for you.

Creativity

Comment: Altough a small part of the original map still exists and a part of Sul's map, Homeworld reside in this map, almost everything else is completely new. One great place I've seen on this map is of the engine core, and the crew sleeping quarters are some of the great places on this map, 4 cubes again, Lifer.

Overall

Comment: This map just owns. People will play this map for a long time. 4 cubes Lifer, you are on a roll.
